12th Annual Battle of Bay

Friday, May 20th at Volanta Park Fairhope, AL

12th Annual Battle of the Bay will be hosted by Gulf Coast Ranger FC on Friday, May 20th at Volanta Park, Fairhope. If you have any questions, please contact Nick Cooper for Player Questions & Dyan Perrigin for Registration Questions

The Battle of the Bay was started in 2005 by the Blast Soccer Club as an event to showcase soccer talent in Mobile and Baldwin counties. This year, the event will be hosted by the Gulf Coast Rangers Football Club. The event gives players the opportunity to train under and play for college coaches who volunteer their time in support of the event. A charity fund-raiser, the proceeds from the event are donated to MD Anderson Cancer Center, and are generously matched by Lee and Victor Teumer in appreciation for the care their family received at that institution. The event is a club soccer event is has no affiliation with any other organization. We have donated over $20,000 toward cancer research from previous years’ games and expect great results again this year. This year's Battle of the Bay will take place on Friday, May 20th, 2016 at Majors Field in Fairhope.
We appreciate if you could provide names players, sophomores, junior, and seniors; boys and girls who you feel that would be deserving of an opportunity to be selected to their respective county team. We have attached the link to the nomination form where you can fill in the information we need to contact the player if selected. Additionally, if you want to suggest players from any opponent in Mobile or Baldwin County we would greatly appreciate those names as well. Please write those names at the bottom of the nomination form. If you would like to rank players, feel free to do so. The link for nominations will close at midnight on May 4, 2016.
The final selections are made by the Selection Committee for the game. Every attempt will be made to have 2 Goalkeepers, 7 Defenders, 7 Midfielders, and 6 Forwards on each team. The selection process is very difficult, and we realize that some very very good players will not be selected. 22 players are selected for each team. We know being turned down for the game is a disappointment, but please be respectful of the decision making process. Our Battle of Bay selection committee will make their selections so that players will be contacted by May 8th with Battle of Bay invitation.

Recap 11th Annual Battle of Bay

Added 5/26/2015

The weather couldn’t have been any better for the 10th Annual Battle of the Bay. This is the second year in a row for a tie game for the ladies. Baldwin Ladies coached by Austin Brown, Assistant Coach University of Mobile Women’s Soccer played a great game with 2-2 tie game against Mobile Ladies coached by Brian Person, Head Coach University of Mobile Women's Soccer. Rachel Lane & Madlyn Wells both scored for the Baldwin Ladies.  Gracie East & Zoe Mould both scored for the Mobile Ladies.
MVP for Baldwin Girls went to Rachel Lane and MVP for Mobile Girls went to Gracie East.
Way to go Ladies!

The Mobile Boys took the win over Baldwin boys after a 3-year winning streak.

Mobile Boys coached by Daniel Whelan, Head Coach University of Mobile Men's Soccer & Gerardo Flores, Assistant Coach University of Mobile Men’s Soccer had an intense 3-2 game over Baldwin Boys coached by Zac Crawford, ASA Technical Director.

Zac Crawford talks after the game"As a coaching staff, our goals were to teach the U.S. Soccer style and system, have fun, and build relationships. We were very pleased with the boys’ attitude and work rate.  They were professional, which made everything easier.  Everyone got a chance to represent their school and start at least one half, while playing substantial minutes, which is difficult in these types of settings.
We were also able to scout some players for ODP, and will be in touch with certain college programs to help get these boys a look at the schools they are interested in attending.  Building relationships is so important for these guys because they will hopefully be the next set of soccer coaches, parents, referees, administrators.  I wanted to let them know that there are many opportunities out there for them to help grow and promote this beautiful game."
Noah Harrelson, Chris Barbosa & Jarrell Williams scored for the Mobile Boys and Colin Douglas scored both for the Baldwin Boys.
MVP for Baldwin Boys went Colin Douglas and  MVP for Mobile Boys went Sherman Winchester.  Way to go Boys!
We would like to thank our players, coaches, parents, friends, sponsors & volunteers who made this evening terrific!
