What to Expect When You Volunteer to Coach

Updated 7/13/2018

Fairhope Soccer is volunteer youth sports league that depends entirely on parent volunteer coaches like yourself. You don't have to be a 'Messi' to teach the game, just a willingness to work with kids and a little time to do it. It's a great way to spend a little extra time with your children and have fun doing it.  We ALWAYS need coaches.

Fairhope Soccer Club expectations our volunteer head coach:

  • have fun is our number one expectation as well as have encouraging attitude, be a positive role model during practices/games and have some knowledge of the game of soccer. (This helps however we can offer education & sessions during the season)
  • complete a background check/concussion/abuse & safety training that is required by Alabama Soccer Association
  • attend coaching sessions and rules meeting prior to season
  • set up practices 1-2 days a week and be available during games either on Saturday mornings or during the week
  • communicate with your parents on a weekly basis regarding any changes/updates regarding practice times/game changes/etc during the season

GrassRoots Coach Trainng Sessions--NEW THIS FALL

We are introducing this Fall 2018, GrassRoots Training Sessions with Will Cunningham, FSC Recreation Technical Coordinator.

Each Monday during the season, coaches and their teams can sign up for a training session .  We highly encourage all coaches to attend at least one session.  Training sessions will be based on US Soccer’s Grassroots movement “play practice play” built practice sessions.

This program will make for a great opportunity for all to learn the grassroots play practice play philosophies, develop and learn new ways and ideas to enhance training for our players, free up a night of planning a session, and ultimately grow as coaches. In a peer environment, we always pick up different ways to make coaching points or setup activities. This opportunity will provide plenty of opportunities for this to happen.
