WHAT IS FAIRHOPE FIVES?
Fairhope Fives program is designed to build upon the philosophy & skills first introduced to players and parents in our Fairhope Tots program, however a player is not required to participate in our Tots program in order to participate in our Fives program. The goal of the program is to continue to develop the passion and love for the game of soccer at an early age. “Fives” (Players 5 & under) will train once a week alongside their parents under the guidance of Coach Jamie Ferguson.
The Fairhope Fives program also serves as an educational program for our young parents who may be interested in volunteer coaching once their player is old enough to move into FSL Recreational or the FSL Footies programs. Practice sessions will be open to the parents and Coach Ferguson will explain the structure of sessions via email and/or informal meetings. Any parent who is interested in serving, as a volunteer assistant should communicate that desire during the registration process.
HOW DOES FAIRHOPE FIVES WORK?
All players who sign up in time (48 total slots, first come first serve) will receive the Fairhope Fives training package.
Based on US Soccer’s age appropriate soccer curriculum, our program uses fun games to develop motor skills, promote physical fitness, and self-confidence.
It is imperative for at least one parent/guardian to be present, and at times participating with their child during each session.
Players will train together and then be split into their teams for free play at the end of the session.
WHY ARE PARENTS ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE?
Parent education is a priority within our organization.
First, the child is more likely to participate and thrive in the environment if they see their parent/guardian playing.
Secondly, participation could inspire the parent to enjoy the game of soccer and become a member of our coaching community in the future years.
WHAT WILL THE TRAINING BE LIKE?
Training will take place once a week for 8 weeks. Players will be placed on teams along with a parent volunteer coach.
25 minutes with Coach Ferguson: Motor Skills, Ball Mastery/Control/Skills
Small sided games after Training Session
WHAT DOES MY PLAYER NEED?
A parent or guardian, size 3 ball, black shorts & socks, cleats or tennis shoes and plenty of water.
