FSL FOOTIES TRAINING PROGRAM

WHAT IS FSL FOOTIES?

Footies is a development program that provides a more advanced training environment for FSL players who seek to develop individual skills at a more accelerated rate than the traditional recreational model offers.  FSL Footies will train under the guidance of professional coaches and assistant parent coaches.
The Footies program also provides parent education by effectively communicating the strategies and curricular choices made by coaches who are trained to elicit guided discovery with each and every player.

HOW DOES FOOTIES WORK?

Footies is an enhanced training package for FSL Players born in 2011 or 2010 that sign up for regular FSL recreational soccer. Players will be evaluated and placed on a designated Footies team and will receive training from a licensed professional coach.

How Does Footies Training Work?

U8(2010) Footies train with a professional coach twice a week and parent volunteer coach will coach during recreational games.

U7(2011) Footies train with a professional coach once a week and with a parent volunteer coach once a week.  Parent Volunteer coach will coach during recreational games.

Footies coaches advise volunteer coaches with the shared goals of:  1) fostering FUN and 2) introducing and reinforcing early learning focused on individual skills and fundamentals of the game.

Aimed at players that possess a strong passion for the game, FSL Footies is a soccer development program that follows US Soccer’s age-appropriate soccer curriculum to enhance technical ability and basic tactical awareness.

The FSL Footies Developmental program will provide a fun and challenging environment that will enhance each player’s confidence, technique, and instincts to accelerate an understanding of the game and better prepare them for more competitive environments in the future.

HOW CAN I HELP/BE INVOLVED?
Parent education will be a priority.  Practice sessions will be open to the parents and the structure of sessions will be explained via email and/or informal meetings by either the lead coaches, the Director of Coaching, or the FSC Development Director.
We welcome all parents into the program, regardless of your experience with or knowledge of the game!  We will hold parent-coaching clinics and provide lots of resources to help you design practices, assist your players, and have a successful, fun, stress-free season. Any parent who is interested in serving as a volunteer assistant (coach, assistant coach, team coordinator) should communicate that desire during the registration process – we would love to have you!
